Week 14: Maintaining

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

This week was an okay one. I only walked twice instead of three times, but I did eat okay. I didn’t get to weigh myself this week so I’m not sure if I lost any more weight. I really need to buy my own scale.

I went to visit a friend from college and even though I wanted a char broiled juciy hamburger like everyone else was having, I had a vegi burger and it tasted pretty good too. But I admit, I ate french fries. I was pretty lazy on my visit. Catchin up on old times, watching movies and I kinda feel bad about it. But Im not going to let it get me down. Bring on the new week and the challenges of Fourth of July cookouts! =)

Week 13: Still Considering That Bike

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

To get a bike or to not get a bike?  That is the question.  I mentioned a week or two ago that  I have really been wanting to get a bike and I’ve been weighing the pros and cons. The only two cons I can come up with are

  1. The $ I would have to spend on it
  2. I live in an apartment and would have to keep it in my bedroom or something

Everything else is a pro even having to carry it up the stairs because that means more exercise. Next step? Look for cheap, but good, used bike.

Also, I’m down a couple of more pounds. Its a great feeling. I am so thankful I was given this opportunity to have wonderful trainers!

Week 12: Early Morning Walk? Weird!

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

I had a pretty good week. The rain finally held off enough this week so that I could walk. Friday morning I couldn’t sleep so I found myself up at 530am walking and it felt like I was the only one awake.  Weird how different things are that early in the morning.

I took a two mile walk with my friends on Sunday. We used to walk that all the time about three years ago. I was so happy and surprised when I was the one way up in front of everyone else and I didn’t even get out of breath or get worn out like I had when we used to walk that walk years ago.

Even though I haven’t lost any more weight since I’ve been out of the hospital I am definitely mentally on a different level than I was when I began this program. For the first time I can remember, I was out to eat with my parents and instead of eating what I knew tasted good but was bad for me, I got a salad. They looked at me strange and surprised, but then praised my choice. Its a small step but on the inside I was so proud of myself.

Week 11: Getting Back on Track

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

I tell ya, sometimes a week can feel like forever! I was recently in the hospital and didn’t get to work out for a week and let me tell you, it sure did feel like forever. But now, I am all better and back to my old self and ready to lose more weight.

They just opened up a new discount grocery store down the road from me and their fresh produce is so cheap! They dont have a ton to choose from, but the basics are all I need. I’m really excited about this store because it works for me. Cheap and I can get healthy stuff there. I’m looking forward to having my vanilla soy milk in the morning and a walk to go along with it!

I’ve also just started thinking about getting a bicycle. I’m not really sure if I actually WILL, but the fact that I’m wanting to get one is surprising even myself.
